New in v1.1.0
v1.1.0 of Radio Times on your iPhone introduces three powerful new features:
- What's on now and next
- Episode search
- Keyword search across programme titles, descriptions and more
This page includes an introduction to using the new features.
Hint: If viewing this on your iPhone, you can print this page by emailing this link to yourself and printing the page from a desktop computer.
What's on now and next
On the main screen, you can now see both what's on now and what's on next in each list item.

In the above example, you can see that The Apprentice is on now and is followed by Chelsea Flower Show.
From this screen you can:
- Tap on The Apprentice to view details about that show
- Tap the orange arrow to the right of Chelsea Flower Show to advance the time period to when that programme starts. From there, you can...
- Tap on Chelsea Flower Show to find out programme details about that show
- Tap Home to get back to Now Showing
Episode Search
This feature is available from any programme details screen and allows you to look for episodes of the same show. For example:

The above screen shows the programme details for Star Trek: Voyager. To search for other episodes, tap Episode Search which is the second button on the toolbar. This will popup a reel containing the results of the episode search:

The reel contains a list of episodes of Star Trek: Voyager on the same and other channels. Using this popup you can:
- Rotate the reel to an episode you are interested in
- Tap Done to show the programme details for the selected episode
- Tap Cancel to close the popup reel, maintaining the original programme details
Note: Episode search will only find programmes with exactly the same name. For example, when searching episodes for Star Trek: Voyager, you will not see episodes of Star Trek: Enterprise. For that, you can use the final new feature, search.
Keyword Search
You can now search for programmes and films using words or names that match titles, film directors, cast members or programme descriptions. To access search, tap:
More... > Search
Then tap on the search bar just below the title. You will see a screen similar to the following:

On this screen you can:
- Type a search term and tap Search to search for programmes with the term in the title
- Change the search type by tapping just underneath the search box. Choosing Cast will search film actors, Director will search film directors, etc.
Underneath the search toolbar, you will see a list containing terms you have searched for before. This is called the search history list. The search history list will initially be blank but will become filled with new terms as you enter them. You can use the search history list to:
- Tap on an item to use that search term again
- Tap on the delete icon to remove a search item from the list
Note: The search history list will automatically display recent terms at the top.
The following screen shows the results of a typical search, in this case a search for star trek:

Changing lineup order
You can change the order of lineups, including search, so the lineups you use most often appear on the view tab at the same time (the view tab is the bar across the bottom of the main screen):

The above view tab is arranged to include Channels, Choices, Search and My Shows. To get to other lineups, you would tap More... followed by the lineup.
To order your lineups, tap More... > Edit. This will reveal a screen similar to the following:

Use the grab bars on the right to change the order of your lineups. Move the lineups that you use most often to the top of the list. When done, tap Done.
